The ghazal legend passed away jagjit singh passed away at the age of 70. He has been suffering from diabetes, heart ailment and Hypertension. He was one of the most honorable singers in the whole subcontinent. Due to his achievement in music, he was honored with the 3rd highest Indian award Padma Bhushan back in 2003. The very famous yet humble indian ghazal singer jagjit singh lived as the Ghazal King and is being mourned as one. Indian government officials and recording artists and producers have been grieved about the unbearable loss of his melodic voice.
Even in Pakistan, jagjit singh’s death has been utterly mourned. Recently Jagjit Singh made his musical contribution in Pakistani actress-turned director Reema’s film Love Mein Gum. His critics mostly considered his music to be one dimensional but he was often quoted as saying that it is the ghazal’s only saving grace if it not changed. Jagjeet Singh gained his popularity in the 70s and 80s. He also sand many ghazas with his wife Chitraa and the duets have become very famous the world over. The beautiful poetry was made superb by his amazing voice. So far no one has been able to match Jagjit Singh’s legendary voice. His music still continues to be enjoyable even though the trend in Bollywood music has changed drastically. It is indeed sad that the world will no longer be able to listen to his soulful voice.
